Carolina On My Mind
Mileage: 1342
Nights: 14
Diesel Fuel & RV Park Daily Average Estimate: $98
There is nothing like a ride through the Carolina pines in the spring. We love the Smokey Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway, and the shores of North Myrtle Beach. Our good friends in Atlanta have been wanting for us to join them in the North Georgia mountains near Ellijay. The pandemic slowed that to a halt as of last March. Now that we are all fully vaccinated we are looking forward to getting together in the coming weeks.
Itinerary
The itinerary will take us down to Ellijay, GA then south to Augusta. We will then head northeast to North Myrtle Beach, spend the week and then head back to the Smokie Mountains near Pisgah, NC. We can’t wait to get back on the road and off to some of our favorite places to visit. Here is a rundown of the parks we will be visiting. Some of them have been old standby’s, others will offer a new adventure.
- Diamond Lure Campground – 514 Diamond Lure Rd. Ellijay, GA

Love To Wander RV Park Review: Coming Soon
Nights: 2
This will be our first visit to this part of the country and RV park. We will give you a full rundown of the facilities and such after our visit.
Here is what the owners are saying about the campground. Family-owned and operated since 1973, we know your time with us will be both relaxing and enjoyable. We are The Best Kept Secret in North Georgia!
Our campground is in the beautiful foothills of the Smokey Mountains where wilderness areas, state and federal parks, and forest abound. Come enjoy a hike in the majestic wilderness which is alive with deer, grouse, squirrels, rabbit, bears, and other game or enjoy swimming in or fishing in our private 15-acre spring-fed lake which is well stocked with Large Mouth Bass, Channel Cats, Bream and some of the largest Grass Carp you will find anywhere. Relax or take your family on short excursions to the numerous attractions and activities in our area.

We have visited this park on many occasions, but never in the Grand Design. We have a Military family and they were stationed at Fort Gordon. Our review reflects our stay in early 2019.
This would not be a holiday or vacation location in our opinion. However, if your looking for a short stay to visit with a family member that might be stationed at FT Gordon and you are not military this is minutes away from Gate #1. Maybe you are headed east on I-20 to the beaches of GA or South Carolina, the perfect spot to overnight is right here. Fortunate enough to have tickets to the 2022 Masters Tournament, they have a special rate for you, and Augusta National is but 15 to 20 mins away.
- North Myrtle Beach RV Resort and Dry Dock – 260 Old Crane Road, Little River, SC
Love To Wander RV Park Review: North Myrtle Beach RV Resort
Nights: 5
We have always loved the shoreline of South Carolina near the NC border. We spent many a summer at Holden Beach, NC renting an oceanside home. The crowds you find in Myrtle Beach are not there. It’s quiet, great beaches and there is plenty of fresh seafood. We wanted to find something similar in an RV park. There are many relatively close to the ocean, some right on the beach. However, the summer rates, congestion, golf carts, and just general packed-in feeling were not for us. Toss in the daily rates of over $100 plus and it just was not worth it to us.
North Myrtle Beach RV Resort is on the Intracoastal near Little River, SC, and a 15 min drive to the public beaches. This seemed like a perfect location for us. You have the intercoastal, quick access to the beaches and a short drive to some of our favorite spots in NC and SC.
- Land Of Waterfalls RV Campground – 15 La Salle Dr, Pisgah Forest, NC

This park is all about location. If you are looking for amenities this is not the park for you. If you want to be close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and all the surrounding area has to offer, this is it.
My review will take you through the Campground and give you a couple of close things to do. The rest is up to you, biking, hiking, sliding on Sliding Rock, or a refreshing dip in Skinny Dip Falls you will find it.
Here is a short video from the campground to give you a good look.
