Exploring the I-10 Corridor

April, 2018

Fish Mongers,Bats Muffuletta's, and The Alamo

Duration: 10 days, 11 nights
Location: I-10 Corridor
Fuel: $527.79
RV Site Fees: $533.26
Miles Traveled: 1,588

We planned and executed a very ambitious travel itinerary that took us from TN south to the Florida panhandle where we met up with another RV’er, then west to Las Vegas and back to TN. There where numerous stops along the way. I have decided to break the trip up in sections to better cover the details of this trip.

First, up will be the I-10 Corridor starting in Milton, FL and ending in Carlsbad, NM. You will find RV park reviews, favorite foods, and all the sites we took in during our travels below.

The ratings you find below reflect my general overview of the locations we visited for this segment. Being our first-month long trip plus of this nature, we learned a great deal about a month long trip and the pace we that we decided to take.

Overview

I loved this segment of what was a month-long trip and in particular, San Antonio and Carlsbad Caverns. I will be the first to admit that New Orleans was not my favorite spot and the likelihood of us returning there is slim. However, if I am in the area for a night, my lunch spot would be The Grocery Store and for dinner bar, none would be Bayona. We did go a little on the foodie side on this trip. We went “upscale”($$$$) when it came to dinning at least one of the nights we were in a city location. There were plenty of reasonably priced and very good food locations. I have identified a few in the Best Foods section. I am an avid cook so we kept expenses down on the off days with a few home-cooked meals. We picked up some fresh grouper, redfish and such at Joe Patti’s and frozen them for the trip. There was a five tent standout RV park on the trip this time. Travelers World RV Park in San Antonio is a must stay. You will find more detail below. As for activities and food they are abundant in each of the destination cities we hit.

When we pulled into this location it was packed with RV’s in the waiting Q to check in at 1pm. As I looked around the facility it was tidy and spotless. The check in process went quick and we headed to your pull through site right next to the pool.

On our first day we toured the French Quarter. We stopped at Felix’s for lunch. They are known for their shrimp, oysters and reb Beans. Not bad food would go there again.
