Day One

RV Park – French Quarter RV Resort – 500 N. Claiborne Ave. New Orleans, LA 70112 (504.586.3000)

On our first day, we toured the French Quarter. We stopped at Felix’s for lunch. They are known for their shrimp, oysters and reb Beans. Not bad food would go there again. We got off Bourbon street and headed down Royal and found art, music and quaint shops. Off to Jackson Square and Café Du Monde, it was packed so that was a pass…. Seemed to have a small reaction to the oysters I eat, felt a little off and took care of it with a Benadryl. Dinner that night was on the RV.

The first night was going to be a crap shoot for sleeping. With I-10 nearby, a truck depot behind us and plenty of ambient city noise. We both got some decent sleep, could have used the Crack Curtains to knock down the light from the area.

Day two

The morning started out with a mission to hit Café Du Monde and beignets…. again, a huge crowd and a tuff ticket for a seat. We eat a simple breakfast and headed out to see the sights. First, stop St. Louis Cathedral…. Then off to Royal Praline Company for some treats. We wanted to do a little lunch prior to our dinner later this evening and ended up at Antonio’s for a very disappointing experience with service. We blew that place and headed for the best Muffuletta’s in town at the “Grocery Store”. They lived up to their reputation, the sandwiches where outstanding. We finished out the night with an amazing dinner at Bayona. The service was first rate with food to match. Gin had the Red Snapper and I started with a Beet salad, moved to the Ribeye and finished with the Dark Chocolate Tart. Gin had a Homemade fudge ice cream.

As I mentioned, Ginny and I are not the biggest fans of New Orleans. If you’re into late nite partying, the French Quarter will suit you just fine. We prefer a bit more laid back adventure. As foodies, I must admit there are some great places to eat both high end and low…We will stop in the future for an overbite and some great food.
