Campground ⛺️ review

We used these two RV Parks as overnight stays. My review notes will be based on our observations of the property and not a usage of the facilities.

Sunbury/Columbus North KOA – 8644 Porter Central Road Sunbury, OH 43074 – Multi Stay

Rates: $38 – $79

RV Park Link: Sunbury Columbus North KOA

This park is a bit off the beaten path just north of Columbus, OH off I-70. You will be heading west to Sunbury about 4 miles or so from the highway. The park was originally called Autumn Lakes RV resort but it was recently changed to a KOA. We have been in site P-10 and P-3 both pull throughs with very level sites and patios. P-10 is a bit larger and you can park your tow vehicle with the rig. P-3 is smaller, but there is able parking across the street for your tow vehicle. I was immediately impressed with the looks of the park as we pulled in. The staff was helpful on our first visit and a bit new and confused on visit two when it changed over to a KOA. Our first visit was in early spring and last was late fall just before they close. The pool was not open at the time but by the looks, it was large well kept and close to the pull through sites. They seem to have it all, petting zoo, restaurant, horseshoe pits, fishing, pedal boats, dog park and more. This would be a great destination for a couple of days, plenty of actives and relativity close to Columbus, OH. My general overview is that it is well maintained and very clean.  I am giving this an  ⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️ out of 5 based on our observations of the facility and staff. We have stayed here twice.

Camp Chautauqua RV Park –  3900 NY-394, Mayville, NY 14757

Rates: $30 – $67

RV Park Link: Camp Chautauqua

If you are looking for Chautauqua Lake access this is the place for you. We choose this as a stopover onsite camp chautauqua
our way to Verona, NY. It was about 6 hours from our previous locations and as newbies, we did not want to push the envelope with a nite time pull in. We arrived around 5 pm and the main gate was locked and unoccupied. We buzzed down to the main office and were instructed to make our way there. Well now we are a 38ft Fifth Wheel all in about 55ft little did we know what was in store. As we made our way to the check-in locations the road was narrow but passable. Once we checked in there was a bit of discussion amongst the young staff as to how to get to our site which was back up the hill and northwest of the office site #173.

As I mention in the title of the post, Maiden Trip or newbie driver. The road they decided to have us take waslake camp chautauqua
narrow, winding and full of trees very close to the road. We were missing the trees by inches as we made our way to the site. Once there it was a simple pull through and level. This is a very old facility and is one of two that are available near the lake. I did take a walk around the park and to the lake with the dog the next morning. They have lake access with boat launch, pool and what seems like plenty of space for activities. We did not use any of the facilities so I don’t have a read on that. This camp came highly rated by Good Sams, I would say it has potential, but the after-hours check-in was not a good experience for an inexperienced RVer…. for that, I am giving this location an ⛺️⛺️⛺️ out of 5 reviews. I would more than likely not return.

Laundry/Bathhouse: We did use the facilities at Sunbury and they were very clean and in good working order.

Grocery: I would suggest packing your rig in for this stay. There are stores near both locations but it is a bit of a drive.

Restaurants: Sundury is somewhat isolated from any fast food locations. It will be a 5 to 8-mile drive to downtown Sunbury to find restaurants. As for Chautauqua, there are a number of choice on that side of the lake. Again a bit of a drive to get to.

Activities: Both locations had plenty of actives listed.
