I thought I would combine the two overnight RV Parks we stopped at along the way to San Antonio and Carlsbad. Neither I would consider destination locations. Houston West RV Park – Over Night – 35303 Cooper Rd, Brookshire, TX 77423 houston west rvFirst for a little 1-10 Louisiana road review. The ride from New Orleans to the Texas border proved to be a rough ride. The roads were a mess with compression gaps and it shook us and the rig to the bone. The rig took it on the chin, the door deadbolt screws came loose and failed, managed to put it back together. Checked for water system damage and we were fine. This RV park is conveniently located on the west side of Houston off I-10. This is a good overnight location period. The sites are level and pull through. There is internet available but no cable tv. The digital antenna picked up plenty of stations to get the local news and more. It seems that Saturday night Crawfish boils are a regular event as one was going on when we got there. The park is filled with full-timers and there are very few available pull through. Arriving late and departing early we did not have time to review the entire facility. Again this was an overnight with very easy access to the highway.

Fort Stockton RV Park – 3604 KOA Rd, Fort Stockton, TX 79735 This is just off the highway in Fort Stockton. It’s overnight for just about everyone that comes in. There is very little grass, but frankly, there is a fort stockton rvsevere drought in the part of Texas. It works for what we needed and is close to a Flying J and a Walmart just down the road. Update – This park appears to be going through some major renovation. When we stayed in April there was no sign of the construction that is currently happening. Travel Note: We headed north on I-285 to Carlsbad and it proved to be a challenge. The road is traveled by tons of trucks and is I’m sure under construction year around.
