Price: $52 a night with Good Sams
This was our second stay at this RV park. The first was a rather chaotic stop with battery issues etc. This stop gave us much more time to check out this first-class RV resort. Located on the west side of Albuquerque, NM conveniently off I40 this is the perfect location for short or long-term stays. The campground is situated behind the Route 66 Casino and within walking distance or quick free shuttle door to door.
This will be an all-inclusive location, by that I mean fuel, food, groceries, and entertainment are at your doorstep. If your thought is to head to the Albuquerque Ballon festival you are about 30 mins away from the site of the event. My guess is you will have to book this location very early to get a site, it was fully booked when we checked a few months back.
A) Site Quality: ⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️/5
Simply put, first-class with level concrete pads, desert-scape, and full modern hookup pedestals. They feature over 100 full-service sites with picnic tables and fire rings. Super large rigs will enjoy 16′ wide pads with 100 amp hookup, there are 20 such sites. 43 sites are back-in with 30/50 amp service and another 37 pull-through sites with 12′ pads and 30/50 amp service.
Insights
- There are no long-term RV’s in this park. Your maximum stay is 14 days unless working out with the Casino.
- We seem to land in the 1200 row each time we stayed. On the last visit, we were in site 1207 which was located at the far end west end of the property. This put us close to the lower dog run.
- If your desire is to be close to the Pool, Clubhouse, etc I would call and try to reserve something in the 1100 row.
- Have a golf cart with you, there are designated paths all over the park to all the amenities.
- You will find very little or no road noise from I40 or the casino
B) Facilities: ⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️/5
Some of the best we have come across. The main Club House is large and fully equipped with large screen TVs, a Billiard table, Games, Exercise Room, Laundry, and a free Coffee Bar. The pool is large and clean with a bathhouse. You also have access to the Indoor Pool and Hot Tub at the Casino. Located in the 1200 roll you will find another large Bathhouse and Laundry.
C) Amenities: ⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️/5
Where to start, let us go with the RV Park. You will find a large Resort Style Pool, Club House, Shower and 2 Laundry, Exercise Room, Pickel Ball, Volleyball Courts, Putting Green, Horseshoe pit, Dog Parks, and Dog Wash. This is also a Rally Friendly location with a large Rally Barn full equipped. Every one of these I mentioned is in top shape and working order. The sites as mentioned above are spacious, clean, and level.
Now for the Casino. You will find it steps away from your site or a short shuttle ride door to door. This is a full-service casino with all that you would expect on the gaming end. They have 5 dining venues, 3 lounges, a nightclub, 2800 seat indoor theatre, and Kids Quest Childcare. As is typical with most Native American-run casinos this will not be smoke-free.
D) Location: ⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️/5
You are directly off I40 on the west side of Albuquerque, NM about 25 mins from the center of town. The Park is located at the rear of the Casino and is accessed by driving past the front of the casino on the frontage road and turning left at the end of the casino parking lot.
E) Paw – Friendliness – 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾/5
Zoey gave this park, a big paws up approval. There are two penned in Pet Yards at the mid-north and south end of the property. Both have grass, one large, the other smaller with seating, and give you a good place to relieve your dog. The park roads create a nice environment to take walks with your dog as we do. This, of course, will need to take place in the early am during the summer months. Throw in dog wash at the east end of the property and Zoey could not ask for more in the desert location.

Wanderers Take
Ginny and I are both rather partial to RV Parks that are located on the side of town we plan to head out of. In other words, if we are headed west we look for locations on the west side of town to take us out of the midtown morning traffic. Route 66 Casino RV Park is perfectly located on the west side of town and we were headed west.
The bonus here is the amenities and facility which are second to none. I would highly recommend this Park regardless of which direction you were headed. The Park will also give you some beautiful views of the morning sunrise and evening sunsets.
Sites/Attractions/Resturants
We have not stayed long enough at this location to give you the rundown of what all Albuquerque, NM has to offer. I will be updating this information as we plan to come back next spring and spend a longer period here. We did, however, make our way over to the Casino for the lunch buffet.
Restaurants
Buffet Route 66 Fresh Market
Location: 14500 Central Ave SW, Rio Puerco, Albuquerque, NM 87121 Map
Web Site: Route 66 Buffet
The legendary Buffet 66 has been re-built from the ground up to create an all-encompassing, all-you-can-eat dining experience. The ALL-NEW Buffet 66 Fresh Market offers fresh cuisine and flavors influenced by different cultures around the world and is made to order. Our shuttle driver gave us the rundown on this restaurant and of course, it was a glowing review. The word is that this is the best buffet in the area.
Honestly, he was right, the price was very reasonable, $15.00 a person and the selection was fantastic. We arrived just before they were making the switch to dinner. Typically you find the various foods picked over and not looking fresh. This was not the case with this buffet, everything looked like it had just been placed out. The salad bar looked fresh and crisp as did the Tex-Mex section which we both indulged in.
Great value and food of all varieties.
Previous Tips & Upgrades
Tire Pressure Monitor
We have heard hundreds of stories from RVers relating to tire failure. Some of the tire failure issues an RVer may encounter can be a minor nuisance and some failures can be catastrophic.
Truck Lane Fueling
You have finally decided that the RV and Car fill up lanes are not for you when it comes to filling your RV fuel tanks. Highway driving takes you past numerous Travel Centers and you have seen your fellow RVer’s in the Truck Fuel Lanes. Why not give it a go, can’t be that much different from what we are doing now. They say it’s much faster to fuel that way and there is DEF at the pumps.
Magne Shade
The patented Magne Shade™ system uses small but very powerful Rare Earth magnets that are mounted on the outside of the window with a hi temperature 3M peel and stick tape. Our shades are designed to fit your coach glass tight, we incorporate a simple and effective fabric adjustment system in our design so your shades won’t stretch out of shape and sag over time, as a snap-type system can.
Vortex Fan
Great little fan. Sucks so much air it creates a vacumm on our bathroom door. Looks good, overall good quality, fit as easy as claimed, and took all of 40 minutes to install seamlessly. My guess is i could have cut this down with another set of hands.
Bring In The Crane
We use our truck on and off through the year to haul, yard debris, landscaping, mulch and such. The hitch is a 175 lb problem when you want a clean bed to work with. Ginny and I thought we could easily handle the hitch once we took it apart. Not so as we found out,...
Mr. Beam
Interior lighting at night on the RV has always been an issue for us. We struggled with solutions, from flashlights to battery operated led lights. Each had their draw backs, fumbling with switches in the dead of night the main one.
Propane Monitor
Propane management is certainly very important particularly durning cold weather. Yes you can spend $80.00 to install a monitoring system that you can read on your levels on a smart phone.
Microwave Safe
One of our early discoveries while we were on our maiden trip was the glass rotating tray in the microwave presented a problem. As we traveled the tray would take a beating bouncing around as we moved down the road.
